Mathys+Potestio launched Written in 2017 for a simple reason: Good, highly specialized writers are hard to find. But not for us.

Jackie Mathys

Jackie has been placing writers for more than 20 years, and is now Co-Founder of Mathys+Potestio Creative Staffing and the Director of Written. Before jumping into creative staffing in 1997, she was an editor and staff writer for POWDER Magazine, followed by several years as a freelance writer for the outdoor and fitness apparel industries. She also worked awhile as a copy editor for a large textbook publisher, which cemented her allegiance to the Chicago Manual of Style. While at San Diego State University, she was an editor and columnist on the Daily Aztec. She ultimately earned a communications degree from Cal State Fullerton.

Jackie got the idea for Written five years after co-founding Mathys+Potestio. She saw the opportunity to get back to her roots, focus on the kinds of creatives she knew best, treat them right, and connect them to clients and projects that need their expertise.

Ben Peterson

Ben is Written’s Account Director, bringing many years of experience in writing, editing, brand/identity development, capital campaign consulting, public relations, research, and strategy. He joined Written after serving as Principal Partner for Peterson Skolnick & Dodge, an agency specializing in the communication needs of clients in education, arts and culture, science, healthcare, philanthropy, and the environment. He earned his degree in creative writing from the University of Southern California.

Ben is driven by the desire to see an organization’s story told in a way that feels authentic and engaging for both internal and external audiences. In his role at Written, Ben now brings the storytellers together with the organizations whose stories need telling.
